Dr Satpal Pannu is a consultant in the ophthalmology department of Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Dr Pannu completed his MBBS degree at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and completed his MS (Ophthalmology) degree in Bombay University. Subsequently, he received his microsurgery training at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. His professional journey began in the Armed Forces, serving as a specialist in various Indian naval hospitals, notably at INHS Asvini, Mumbai. He later worked as a consultant at Prince Aly Khan and Saifee Hospitals. His most recent tenure was as a consultant in the ophthalmology department of Seven Hills Hospital for over 7 years.
Dr Pannu brings extensive expertise to his practice, specialising in phacoemulsification with IOL implantation and various advanced techniques for cataract surgery. He also performs anterior segment surgeries for glaucoma, strabismus (squint), pterygium, and diseases affecting the lid and lacrimal sac.
As a recognised associate professor at Mumbai University since December 1996, he has mentored and taught numerous successful postgraduate students pursuing their MS (Ophthalmology). He has undertaken various research projects under the aegis of the AFMRC and published and presented papers at various conferences.
He is also a member of the All India Ophthalmological Society, the Bombay Ophthalmologists Association, the Association of Medical Consultants, the Bombay Medical Congress, and the Marine Medical Society of India.
