About Us

The Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management is an indispensable pillar of the Sir H. N. Foundation Hospital, which is now one of the leading centres for medical excellence in the country. Our department plays a pivotal role in offering patient care of the highest quality and the finest education for trainees; equipped with a team of distinguished medical professionals, we aim to set high, innovative standards for anaesthesiology.

Our team excels in providing comprehensive care, backed by state-of-the-art infrastructure and novel out-of-the-box techniques, ultimately tackling multiple challenges with ease.

We focus on prehabilitation, medical optimisation, counselling, anxiety alleviation, and intraoperative care, with holistic approaches aimed at optimal and early post-operative recovery, pain relief, and complete patient satisfaction. Our dedicated pain management team expertly handles both acute and chronic pain treatment, leveraging cutting-edge neuromodulation therapy, which was designed in-house.

The Tower

Our department is equipped with several advanced surgical systems and equipment, including the following:

  1. State-of-the-art high end anaesthesia machines with advanced features, such as ET control, age-adjusted agent delivery, and newer ventilatory modes to deliver safe anaesthesia even in critically ill patients.
  2. Sonosite advanced ultrasound machine for better visualisation during regional nerve block procedures for minimising the failure rates and the incidence of complications.
  3. Videolaryngoscope and fibre optic bronchoscopes of various sizes to ensure that the insertion of tubes for oxygenation during general anaesthesia can be performed smoothly with minimal risk of trauma and/or complications, especially in difficult-to-treat patients with head and neck cancers.
  4. TOF-3D device for ensuring the proper reversal from anaesthesia in high-risk cases and minimising the use of ventilators in the ICU after surgeries.
  5. TEG-ROTEM for assessing the blood clotting ability at any time during surgeries to reduce blood loss and minimise the incidence of complications during blood transfusion.
  6. Several types of warming devices to ensure that all our patients stay warm and remain comfortable throughout the surgery.
  7. One-of-a-kind anaesthesia information management system for the digital and live recording of vitals during surgeries.
  8. We have indigenously developed a unique anaesthesia document software that greatly aids us in documenting continuity of care and monitoring patients from any corner of the world.
