Dr. Hemant Mehta holds the world record for anaesthetising a 300 kg patient at Breach Candy Hospital. The patient had been declared unfit for surgery at various hospitals in Dubai, Bangkok, and London. Dr. Mehta managed this patient under epidural anaesthesia by joining two operation tables.
Dr. Mehta has been a Faculty Member and Speaker for a conference on ‘Endoscopy – scope and future’ and for All India Conference on ‘Minimal access surgery – status in India’ (IAGES 2002). He has been a Faculty Member in a regional conference on Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Management (2003). He has been a Faculty Member for a symposium on Pain Management (2004) and a Faculty and Panel Discussion Member on Anaesthetic Implications in Laparoscopic & Thoracoscopic Surgeries (B.Y.L. Nair Hospital, Mumbai). He has been a Faculty Member and Speaker for symposium on ‘Diabetes and Pregnancy’ (Wadia Hospital, Mumbai) and ‘Anaesthesia for laparoscopy’ (K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai).
Dr. Mehta’s vast experience as a freelance anaesthesiologist includes managing numerous coronary bypass and open heart surgeries and kidney transplant surgeries (under epidural anaesthesia). He has overseen more than 15000 painless deliveries and complex nerve blocks for managing chronic pain in high-risk cases.
