Our Vision

The Well Woman Centre (WWC) is the vision of Mrs. Nita Ambani. Her long-term vision is to empower women to lead healthy lives, be independent, and have access to the best of health care technologies. At the WWC, it is our vision to offer holistic healing directed towards the well-being of every woman from her adolescent years to her menopausal and post-menopausal period. With this in mind, we have created a state-of-the-art Well Woman Centre, which is a comprehensive wellness centre looking after the needs of couples with infertility, adolescent girls, and premenopausal, menopausal, and post-menopausal women.

Conditions such as fibroids, adenopathies, and endometriosis are evaluated and treated by dedicated specialists; further, medical services for paediatric and adolescent patients are offered as specialities. Moreover, special attention is provided to men with infertility; we have established a special centre dedicated towards preventing and treating male factor infertility.

We actively promote regenerative medicine and have a state-of-the-art Aesthetic Centre. Our vision is to cater to a wide variety of patients, providing equitable health for everyone.

Our Services

At the WWC, we offer medical care specific to a wide variety of conditions that affect women of different ages. Our services include the following:

As people enter from the ‘baby’ years to the ‘teenage and adolescent’ years, they will notice many changes. The mind and body will mature. These formative years will determine the future life and overall wellbeing. While this may often be a challenging period, healthy habits will help people look & feel good and help them perform well in numerous daily and career-related activities.

Maintaining mental and physical fitness is crucial for laying the groundwork for future health. These efforts will help prevent diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), cardiovascular conditions, bone diseases (such as osteoporosis), and several types of cancers later on in life.

Many young women are facing the challenge of low ovarian reserve, i.e., diminished eggs production. Lifestyle and environmental factors, such as the use of plastics and other products containing endocrine-disrupting chemicals, are major contributors to this condition. A common observation during IVF is that women with low ovarian reserve produce fewer eggs and/or low-quality eggs, resulting in the need for multiple IVF cycles; this is associated with lower chances of successful embryo implantation and sometimes, resorting to the use of donor eggs.

Our aim is to enhance your reproductive potential before you undergo the IVF cycle. We will guide you on making healthy choices, implementing lifestyle & dietary changes, and taking antioxidant medications that can help enhance your chances of conception.

We will also advise you whether intraovarian PRP therapy will benefit you. PRP therapy is safe to use as it is prepared from your own blood. After processing the PRP under sterile conditions in the laboratory, we will inject it into your ovary. This can be done either before starting an IVF cycle or during egg recovery. The injection of PRP into the ovary may be repeated 2 to 3 times depending on your response. Research has elucidated the beneficial use of PRP. To improve the quality of your eggs, we may recommend some antioxidants prior to your IVF cycle.

It is also important to eliminate the exposure to plastics and avoid the use of Teflon-coated and non-stick pans for cooking and artificial additives in your food. Moreover, studies have shown the beneficial effects of yoga in improving the quality of eggs.

Egg and embryo cryopreservation represent methods for biological insurance, given that reproductive function declines with age. A woman is said to be the most fertile between 24 to 34 years of age; usually, fertility starts to decline post the age of 36 years. Fecundity rapidly declines after the age of 40. Fertility preservation through egg freezing or embryo cryopreservation offers a chance to preserve your reproductive potential before fertility declines. If you wish to postpone childbearing, it is important that you consult us for guidance regarding suitable options. The size of your ovaries, antral follicle count, i.e., the number of follicles in both the ovaries, and the serum anti- Müllerian hormone (AMH) level will help us ascertain your reproductive potential and whether you should delay childbearing. This is particularly important for women who want to delay having a baby for a few years, especially if they are in their early and mid-thirties. In such cases, freezing eggs or embryos is a wise choice. We will guide you and help you make the right choices in this regard. Furthermore, women with some forms of cancer may also benefit from oocyte and embryo freezing; these procedures will be performed under the guidance of their oncologist(s) and our team.

In cases where the time from cancer diagnosis to the start of chemotherapy is short, ovarian tissue or ovarian cortex freezing can help; this is also a good option for young girls with Turner syndrome. Our team places high importance on oncofertility, for which we have an international collaboration with Prof. Dr. Claus Anderson, who has extensive expertise in this field.

  • Orthotopic transplantation: The implantation of ovarian tissue inside the peritoneal cavity, into the remaining ovary, ovarian fossa, or into the broad ligament.
Advantages: It can lead to live births even through spontaneous pregnancies. At this time, orthotopic transplantation is the method of choice when live birth is the goal of auto transplantation. The recovery of endocrine function is observed in over 95% of cases, beginning 2–9 months after grafting; endocrine functionality is sustained for as long as 7 years.
  • Heterotopic transplantation: The implantation of ovarian tissues into locations other than the peritoneal cavity, such as the subcutaneous abdominal wall, the region beneath the peritoneum, the rectus muscle, and/or the forearm.
Advantages: This is a simple, cost-effective, and minimally invasive procedure. It is a valuable option when pelvic adhesions are present, which makes orthotopic transplantation unsuitable. This method is also preferred when the only goal is the recovery of natural endocrine function.

Similarly, methods for male fertility preservation include semen/sperm freezing, testicular tissue freezing, and rare sperm freezing. Men have a much longer reproductive life span. In men, sperm is produced even after the age of 80 years. However, for men with low sperm counts, freeze the sperm for later use is important. Prior to an IVF procedure, we recommend that the male partner freeze a sample of his sperm to avoid any problems on the day of egg retrieval.

It is a good idea for young men who have Klinefelter syndrome and other genetic disorders resulting in low sperm production to freeze their sperm at an early age. Men with cancer should ideally freeze several samples of their sperm before the initiation of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to preserve and protect their reproductive potential. Testicular and epididymal sperm freezing is an option for men with obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermia (the absence of sperm in a man’s semen). Moreover, these methods are useful for preserving fertility in men prior to chemotherapy.

The options of social egg freezing for women and sperm freezing for men with specific medical indications are highly viable.

After menopause, women undergo many physical, hormonal, and mental changes. Our centre is fully equipped to help women during this difficult time. Our team consists of gynaecologists, reproductive endocrinologists, laparoscopists, physicians, counsellors, diabetologists, and life coaches.

After they turn 40, women encounter several additional stresses, such as looking after a growing family, caring for ageing parents, and demands from work and career. They may also experience symptoms such as bone loss, insomnia, night sweats, palpitation, and uneasiness. As the body faces the prospect of menopause, rest, exercise, and healthy eating should become the top priority. This is the time to improve fitness with muscle building & strength building exercises.

During their mid and late 40s, women may require oestrogen and progesterone therapy. Further, past the age of 60, it is critical for women to maintain their health and follow a healthy lifestyle to prevent degenerative diseases and cancer. Urinary bladder dysfunction, arthritis, or memory loss could also occur at this stage. Hence, timely treatment and appropriate counselling are necessary to prevent these problems.
