Movement Disorder Clinic

Overview

Movement disorders are common and account for approximately 3–8% of neurological disorders. Parkinsonism (24%) is the leading movement disorder, followed by tremors (5%), and others (4%). At any given point of time, in the Neurology department of any hospital in India, 20% of patients consult for treatment of movement disorders.

At Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, Movement Disorder Clinic is a specialised clinic for attending people with movement disorders caused by neurological issues. These disorders include too much movement (e.g., tremor, myoclonus, dystonia, tics, ataxia) or too little movement (e.g., Parkinson’s disease). The clinic offers comprehensive assessment and tailored care plan for these patients, including neurological consultations, botulinum toxin therapy, physical and cognitive rehabilitation, and psychotherapy. Notably, very few centres in Mumbai have a specialised clinic like ours, with even fewer offering botulinum toxin therapy at a reasonable cost.
