Interventional Pulmonary Medicine

Interventional pulmonology is a specialised branch of pulmonary medicine using minimally invasive and percutaneous techniques for advanced diagnostic and therapeutic management of various lung disorders. Interventional pulmonology—initially used only to examine and sample the central airways—has evolved dramatically over the years to not just diagnose but also treat various lung-related and pleura-related diseases.

Applications include:

  • Bronchoscopic procedures for lung cancer diagnosis and staging
  • Airway stenting, dilatation of tracheo-bronchial strictures and foreign body removal
  • Pleural disease management
  • Temporary percutaneous tracheotomies for chronic airway management

Sleep Medicine

The Department of Sleep Medicine is well-equipped with an advanced sleep laboratory. Our sleep laboratory offers advanced sleep studies, including:

  • Level 1 polysomnography
  • Titration sleep study
  • Multiple sleep latency test (MSLT)
  • Multiple wakefulness tests
  • Actigraphy

We also provide home-based sleep studies and a comprehensive suite of services for diagnosing and managing sleep apnoea, insomnia, and other sleep disorders.

The Tower
  • Flexible video bronchoscopy: The procedure boasts a high diagnostic yield for conditions, such as lung cancer, infections and Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) s, leading to accurate diagnoses. It can provide significant symptom relief for patients experiencing airway obstruction or haemoptysis.
  • Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)-guided bronchoscopy: EBUS is a technique that uses ultrasound along with a bronchoscope to visualise the airway wall and structures adjacent to it.
  • Medical thoracoscopy
  • Jaeger MasterScreen Pulmonary Function Laboratory with Impulse Oscillometry (IOS) and Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) test
  • Philips Respironics Alice 6 Sleep Laboratory
  • OmniLab Advanced + for CPAP/BiPAP Titration

Our Services

  • Pleural fluid aspiration
  • Intercostal drainage tube placement
  • Flexible Video Bronchoscopy-Broncho-alveolar lavage (BAL), Endobronchial biopsy (EBB), and Transbronchial Lung Biopsy (TBLB)
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound-guided Bronchoscopy-Radial and Linear
