The Tower

Every effort has been made to create state-of-the-art infrastructure for the Department of General and Minimal Access Surgery at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre. Our advanced equipment, combined with internationally renowned surgeons, underscores our unwavering dedication to patient care and well-being.

The transformation from conventional surgeries with larger surgical incisions to laparoscopic and single-incision surgeries marks a groundbreaking shift in surgical techniques. Today, it is virtually possible to conduct most surgeries laparoscopically, thus offering numerous patient benefits, such as:

  • Reduced post-operative pain
  • Lower risk of wound infections
  • Faster recovery

This advancement has significantly enhanced post-operative outcomes, making ‘daycare surgery’ a practical reality. The combination of early rehabilitation and these advantages offers an optimal experience for patients, redefining the standards of surgical care.

The Tower
  • Twelve spacious operation theatres equipped with the latest and most sophisticated equipment for both endoscopic advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.
  • The addition of Da Vinci robotic surgery has further revolutionised patient care by enabling precise and minimally invasive robotic surgery.
  • A dedicated minor operation theatre exclusively for day-care surgeries, ensuring maximum patient comfort and rapid recovery.
  • The general surgery department has 24/7 support by a state-of-the-art trauma theatre within the emergency department, equipped with advanced CT and MRI scanning devices. This integrated setup minimises excessive patient movement and facilitates life-saving surgeries during the golden hour.
  • This comprehensive approach to infrastructure and expertise places the department at the forefront of general and minimal access surgery in Mumbai, offering cutting-edge procedures such as robotic surgery, laparoscopic hernia repair, and advanced trauma care.
The Tower
  • Minimally invasive surgery refers to any surgical procedure that is less invasive than traditional open surgery. It encompasses various techniques that have become the standard for managing a wide range of medical conditions, from common issues to complex surgeries like cancer treatment.
  • Surgeons performing minimally invasive surgery, also known as laparoscopic, endoscopic, or keyhole surgery, use advanced tools and technologies. These procedures typically involve inserting a thin tube attached to a camera and light source, along with specialised surgical tools, through one or more small incisions. The camera transmits high-definition images to a computer screen for the surgeon to guide the surgery. Advanced methods like robotic surgery and image-guided surgery enhance the surgeon’s vision, precision, and control by providing magnified 3D views of the surgical site.
  • Proven benefits of minimally invasive surgery include reduced pain, minimal blood loss, and faster recovery time while minimising trauma to surrounding tissue.
  • Speak to our experienced surgeons to determine if minimally invasive surgery is the right option for you.
