Dr. Abhijit Thakur is a consultant surgeon with 22 years of vast national and international experience in general, gastrointestinal, laparoscopic, endocrine, breast, thyroid, and cancer surgeries. He is also a senior post-graduate teacher for DNB in General Surgery.
Dr. Abhijit Thakur completed his post-graduation (MS [Gen Surgery]) at B.Y.L. Nair Hospital in 2000. He has been actively practising for 18 years, performing all types of general, gastrointestinal, hepato-biliary, and head and neck surgeries using open and laparoscopic techniques.
He received extensive training for basic and advanced laparoscopic surgeries in India and abroad. He was trained in advanced gastrointestinal, pancreas, spleen, and colorectal laparoscopic surgery by Prof. Zimmerman and Prof. Henry in France.
He completed the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons (IAES) Fellowship in Endocrine Surgery from University Hospital La Timone Marseille, France. He received training in thyroid, parathyroid, neck, thymus, adrenal, pancreas, open, and laparoscopic surgeries for two semesters by Prof. Henry in France. He was trained in general, gastrointestinal, hepato-pancreatico-biliary, breast cancer, and head and neck cancer surgeries by renowned cancer surgeons at Tata Memorial Hospital and PD Hinduja Hospital.
Additionally, he is a life member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), the Foundation for Head Neck Oncology (FHNO), the Association of Medical Consultant (AMC), and the Indian Medical Association (IMA). He has also published many papers in international and national indexed medical journals and has published a book on the management of acute pancreatitis.
