Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery

Overview

The Department of Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (H.P.B.) Surgery at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital endeavours to offer state-of-the-art medical facilities and treatment for the entire spectrum of diseases – benign and malignant – pertaining to the gall bladder liver, pancreas and bile ducts. The department is supported by highly qualified medical gastroenterologists along with a strong diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional endoscopy service. The diagnostic and interventional radiology service offers state-of-the-art cross sectional imaging (CT and MRI) with a dedicated abdominal radiologist to aid in diagnosis and plan management. We ensure

  • Shorter post-operative stay in hospital
  • Less post-operative pain
  • Faster recovery

The advent of laparoscopic and minimal access surgery has alleviated post-operative care to a very different level, thereby conceptualising the trend of ‘Day-care Surgery’. The early rehabilitation of patients coupled with other benefits makes it a total win-win situation for patients.

Detailed planning has gone in creating world-class infrastructure and procuring cutting-edge technology for our department.

Our high-class modular operation theatres enable us to conduct the most advanced and complicated surgical procedures. Our surgical team is assisted by sophisticated diagnostic services, such as well-equipped liver intensive care units (ICUs) manned with qualified senior consultants to ensure better outcomes and dynamic retraction systems for maximum surgical exposure.

The department houses advanced equipment for major abdominal surgery, including intra-operative ultrasound (IOUS), cavitron ultrasonic aspirator and dissector (CUSA) for liver parenchymal transection, argon plasma coagulator (APC), and harmonic scalpel

We are well-equipped to perform interventional radiological procedures and possess hybrid operation theatres for complex HPB lesions.

The diagnostic department at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre has advanced medical equipment for CT and MRI providing specialised and dedicated imaging of liver, pancreas and biliary tree.
