Dr. Mohanka underwent training at Government Medical College, Nagpur; University of Rochester Medical Centre, Strong Memorial Hospital; Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute, University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre; Washington University, St. Louis; Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay; and University of Toronto. He has worked at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Medanta Medicity, Global Hospital.
He accumulated vast experience with 1500+ liver transplants, mostly adult and paediatric living donor liver transplants, and 1000+ liver, gall bladder and bile duct cancer surgeries, some of which has been featured in media and publications. An avid clinician-scientist, he has published 60+ scientific articles in International journals and book chapters. His articles have been cited 1200+ times. He has conducted and participated in many research and lectured 200+ faculty presentations in scientific meetings globally.
He is passionate about increasing organ donation awareness in India and actively assists governmental organizations such as R.O.T.T.O. / S.O.T.T.O. and N.G.O.s such as Z.T.C.C., Mohan Foundation, Organ India and others to establish robust organ allocation systems. He has helped many government and trust hospitals in metros, tier 2 and 3 cities to establish liver transplant programs. He has been instrumental in making transplants more affordable with these initiatives. He has a keen interest in using technology to ease medical and surgical problems and has patented two devices for the same.
