About Us:

Dr. Vyas graduated from Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, University of Mumbai, and received his MS (General Surgery) from the same institution. Thereafter, he pursued a comprehensive training programme in cancer surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital and Cancer Research Institute, rotating through all surgical oncology subspecialties, and progressing from junior registrar to senior registrar and surgical research fellow.

Dr. Vyas later worked as an Assistant Surgeon in the department of surgical oncology, Bombay Hospital. Thereafter, he pursued further surgical training in the UK, where he was associated with many centres of excellence and tertiary referral centres, for 10 years. He received comprehensive training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic Surgery (HPB) surgery and upper gastrointestinal surgery at University College Hospital and Royal London Hospital, Barts and the London NHS Trust and Royal Free Hospital Medical School, London.

He was Senior Clinical Fellow in Hepato Biliary and Pancreatic Surgery and Adult Liver Transplantation at the Sheila Sherlock Liver Centre, Royal Free Hospital, and London, UK. He has received extensive training in liver transplantation and in major and complex liver, biliary, gall bladder and pancreatic surgery for benign and malignant conditions from leaders in the field.

He has been awarded the FRCS (Upper GI/HPB) by the Inter Collegiate Speciality Board, Royal College of Surgeons, UK and FEBS (HPB) by the European Board of Surgery. He has been instrumental in establishing specialty units of gastro-intestinal surgery and oncology, HPB surgery and liver transplantation at our hospital.

Dr. Vyas has been a research associate with the division of surgery at the University College, London and the regional coordinator at the RFH/UCL, London, UK for multicentre trials in HPB surgery. He has authored several publications and presented his work at several international meets and conferences.

    • Liver – tumours (benign lesions: haemangiomas, adenomas, FNH, etc; malignant lesions: hepatocellular carcinoma), metastasectomy (removal of cancer that has spread to liver from other organs), liver transplantation
    • Abdominal tumours – sarcomas, leiomyomas, leiomyosarcomas
    • Other tumours in the abdomen – neuroendocrine tumours (NET), gastro-intestinal stromal tumours (GIST)
