About Us:

Dr. Darshana D. Rathod is the Additional Director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine, bringing 24 years of invaluable experience in ICU settings. She holds an MD in Internal Medicine and an MBBS, providing her with a strong academic foundation to excel in clinical, academic, and research roles. Dr. Rathod plays a pivotal role in the department, overseeing daily ICU rounds, assessing patient conditions, formulating care plans, and coordinating with healthcare teams and families. She also ensures the development and implementation of ICU policies, compliance with standards, and staff training on critical care, infection control, and patient safety.

A dedicated researcher, Dr. Rathod is leading two important prospective interventional studies: one focusing on neuro-injury markers post-cardiac arrest and another investigating Adrenomedullin as a marker for organ failure and mortality in sepsis. In addition to her clinical and research expertise, Dr. Rathod is an active faculty member for various Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses, workshops, and medical training programs. She has also been instrumental in the hospital’s quality and accreditation efforts, including the successful reaccreditation by NABH and JCI in October 2023.

Dr. Rathod holds multiple prestigious certifications, including Certified Professional in Quality Initiatives in Healthcare and Patient Safety Officer by CAHO, as well as internationally recognized certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Her contributions to research are evident in her numerous publications and book chapters, focusing on critical care, pulmonary barotrauma, and COVID-19 management.

As a member of several professional societies, including the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Heart Association, Dr. Rathod continues to make significant strides in the advancement of critical care medicine, both nationally and internationally.
