Dr. Dharmesh S. Kapoor is one of the few British Society of Urogynaecology-accredited urogynaecologists in India. After completing his M.D., he continued his training and professional experience in the U.S.A. and U.K. for 20 years. He completed a CCT in general obstetrics and gynaecology and underwent a 3-year subspecialty training in urogynaecology (dual CCT) at Plymouth—with Dr. Robert Freeman (president IUGA)—and in urology with Professors Paul Abrams and Marcus Drake at the renowned Bristol Urological Institute.
Until recently, he was a consultant gynaecologist and urogynaecologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, U.K. Dr. Kapoor is an expert in treating recurrent urinary infections in women, vaginal and abdominopelvic pain, urinary urgency and incontinence, weak bladder, voiding dysfunction, and vagina and uterus prolapse; he has performed more than 1,000 pelvic floor and incontinence surgeries and more than 1,000 hysteroscopic procedures for heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular periods, and fibroids/polyps in the uterus.. He is the only qualified doctor in Mumbai for performing endo-anal ultrasonography for conditions like bowel urgency and incontinence.
He has published 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals and served as an invited reviewer for the International Urogynaecology Journal, European Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and for RCOG’s STRATOG learning programme.
