Dr Namrata Adulkar is a consultant in the ophthalmology department at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Dr Adulkar, an alumna of Seth G S Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai, completed her ophthalmology residency training at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, a centre that has trained some of the finest eye surgeons in the country. Through various fellowship programmes, she received advanced training in oculoplastics, orbital surgery, oculofacial aesthetics, and ocular oncology. Having worked as a faculty member at Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, Dr Adulkar has gained extensive experience in her specialised field. She was honoured with an international fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. During this year-long programme, she focused on orbital and lacrimal surgery, cosmetic eyelid surgery, and the nuances of thyroid eye disease under the mentorship of Dr Peter Dolman. Dr Adulkar has had the privilege of training with leading experts of facial aesthetics and cosmetic eyelid surgery, including Prof Dr Jean Carruthers in Vancouver, Canada, and Prof Dr Bhupendra Patel at Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, USA. She holds an FRCS degree in ophthalmology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK. She is also the recipient of the coveted Lachlan McNeil Scholarship in Ophthalmology (June 2017) and the Allergen Achiever’s Award at ERUDIO 2010.
In the past decade, Dr Adulkar has gained extensive experience worldwide, independently performing or assisting in over 5000 intricate oculoplastic and orbital surgeries. She has a keen interest in academics and has a penchant for teaching postgraduate residents and fellows. She has more than 15 publications to her credit and has been a speaker at numerous national and international conferences.
