Dr. Nisheeta Agarwala is a Consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Dr. Agarwala completed her Graduation and Post-Graduation from the University of Mumbai at Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai, India and received her MS degree in 1982. She further did her higher Ophthalmic Training at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Wilmer Eye Hospital, Baltimore, USA and Institute of Ophthalmology, Judd Street, London, UK, in 1983 & 1984.
Her special interests include corneal disease & surgery. She has kept herself updated in advances in corneal surgery, particularly lamellar corneal surgery, through special training courses & hands-on-experience in these surgeries.
As the Honorary Medical Director of the Eye Bank Co-ordination and Research Centre (IFETB, a “Not for Profit” organisation) since its inception in 1995, Dr. Agarwala has played a pivotal role in improving corneal transplant services in Mumbai in terms of both numbers and quality. This Eye Bank is one of the five in India recognised and affiliated with the International Federation of Eye Banks, USA. She was also nominated to the District Blindness Control Society by the National Association of Blind in the past.
