Dr. Nitin M. Chavan is Chief of Laboratory at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital. He has extensive experience in healthcare (17 years of experience as Head of Department at Lilavati Hospital and 1 year as Clinical Associate at Hinduja Hospital). He is an empanelled International Lead Assessor, having successfully completed the International Lead Assessor course as per ISO 15189:2012 (organised by A.E.R.S.S.C and F.Q.I. in Kathmandu, Nepal; 1st to 5th February 2018). Dr. Chavan was promoted to the post of National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (N.A.B.L.) Lead Assessor in May 2017 and has successfully completed several N.A.B.L. audits. Additionally, he has been empanelled as an N.A.B.L. Technical Assessor for Haematology and Clinical Pathology since April 2011 (Assessor ID: 1516) and has conducted over 100 N.A.B.L. audits across India.
Dr. Chavan also completed the Laboratory Assessors Course as per ISO 15189:2007, (organised by N.A.B.L., New Delhi) in April 2011. He participated in an Orientation Programme as per ISO 15189:2012 and the Assessor Conclave organised by N.A.B.L. in October 2013 in Mumbai and underwent a 4-day training on Laboratory Management & Internal Audit as per ISO 15189:2007 in November 2009.
He is a Certified Internal Auditor for National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (N.A.B.H.), having completed training at Lilavati Hospital in March 2013 (conducted by the Association of Healthcare Providers, India). Dr. Chavan has also actively participated in N.A.B.H. accreditation audits, guiding auditors through the hospital and ensuring compliance with N.A.B.H. standards.
In addition to his work in healthcare management and accreditation, Dr. Chavan has contributed to national and international publications, invited review articles, and book chapters.
