Dr. Prabha Yadav is the director of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department at the Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Dr. Yadav completed her M.B.B.S. in 1977 and M.S. (Plastic Surgery) in 1982 from the University of Bombay. She received training in microvascular surgery in 1988 under Prof. Georgio Brunnelli at Brescia, Italy – a scholarship awarded by the Italian Government.
She served as the Associate Professor at the Department of Plastic Surgery at Grant Medical College, J. J. Hospital, Mumbai, till 2005. Dr. Yadav served as the Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Microvascular Surgery Department and Department of Surgery at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai (2005–18).
Dr. Yadav has been actively involved in training postgraduates over the last 37 years. She has conducted several workshops and meetings and developed fellowship programmes for plastic and reconstructive surgeons to master microvascular surgery in India. Having trained over 150 reconstructive microvascular surgeons in India and neighbouring countries, she is instrumental in setting the current standards for reconstructive microvascular surgery in India.
In 2015, Dr. Yadav held the prestigious position of “President of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India” and conducted the Golden Jubilee Conference for this association. She has participated in many national and international meetings and workshops as an invited faculty member for lectures and operative demonstrations. She has a good number of publications, such as journal articles and authored book chapters. Equipped with extensive experience after having completed over 5000 microvascular free flap reconstructions, she has authored a book titled “Mastering Cancer Reconstructive Surgery with Free Flaps”. Dr. Yadav was felicitated as a ‘pioneer lady microsurgeon from Asia’ at the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery Conference 2022 Forum in Cancun, Mexico.
