Dr. Rajan Shah is a Consultant at the Department of Neurosurgery at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Dr. Shah completed his M.B.B.S. from Mumbai University in 1979, followed by M.Ch. (Neurosurgery) in 1986. He underwent advanced training in Neurosurgery at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Republic of Ireland for 3 years. He was awarded travelling fellowships at Mount Sinia Hospital, New York, and Fugita University Hospital to obtain experience in the management of microscopic surgical management of Neuro vascular and skull base diseases.
Over the three decades, Dr. Shah has managed 450+ cerebral aneurysms, 100+ arterio-venous malformations, performed 8000+ brain tumour surgeries with internationally comparable outcomes, and has gained significant experience in treating acute conditions like brain injuries and stroke.
His special interest lies in treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, offering microvascular decompression surgery and percutaneous radio frequency ablation of the trigeminal nerve (a day care procedure). He is well-versed in spinal tumour management and other kinds of degenerative spinal pathologies using the minimal access route procedures. Dr. Shah has presented his work at various platforms and has authored 10 publications. He is the past president of Bombay Neurology Association.
