Dr. Shivaprakash completed his MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, followed by an MD in Microbiology from Bangalore Medical College. With a specialization in the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases and infection control, Dr. Shashikala has extensive expertise in molecular diagnostics with a special emphasis on cutting-edge next generation sequencing (NGS) technology.
Previously, she was instrumental in the designing and establishing a state-of-art Microbiology laboratory at Seven Hills Hospital - Mumbai. She has also served as an Associate Professor in Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin.
In addition to her clinical role, she also serves as a guide for DNB students, sharing her knowledge and expertise to nurture the next generation of medical professionals.
Dr. Shashikala is an active member of professional associations such as Indian Association of Medical Microbiology, Association of Clinical Microbiologists, Society for Indian Human & Animal Mycologist, and Hospital Infection Society, Mumbai forum, Society of Clinical Microbiology. She is an Editorial member of Journal of Academy of Clinical Microbiologist. She is credited with several publications and is a reviewer for various National and International journals.
